The Chinese Language School of Ventura County is operated under the supervision of the board of directors of the Ventura County Chinese American Association. In 1979 the school was re-located to Camarillo.The goal of the school is to provide opportunity for children to learn the Chinese Language and cultural heritage in Camarillo. This school was first established in the early 70’s by the Chinese American who had settled in Ventura County for generations. The first school was located on Oxnard Blvd. in the city of Oxnard.

In January 1993, principal Herbert Yen submitted a proposalto the Oxnard Union High School District to include Chinese as a second language for high school students. His proposal was granted by Dr. Gary Davis, Oxnard Union High School District’s Assistant Superintendent in September 1995. 

As a result of the United State’s open door policy to China, we received requests to add new classes to accommodate the Pin-Ying system (a pronunciation system used in Mainland China). Therefore, more classes were added under Mrs. Lee-May Chen Little's administration in September 1998.

Today, we offer classes for K-12 students in Kindergarten, Level I to V, and an adult conversation class under the leadership of Principal Irene Sy. We participated in many local communities activities such as Chinese New Year Celebration in the Camarillo Constitutional Park, Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration, collaboration with local libraries on Book Fest, Cultural Festivals, and the Camarillo Fiesta.
