CLI is a center for language and culture.

At its core, CLI is an institution for Chinese language and culture studies. CLI offers highly efficient intensive Chinese programs, study abroad opportunities for university students, study seminars throughout all of China, business training and internships for up-and-coming professionals, and English-taught courses covering topics ranging from history and economics to political science, cross-cultural communication, and international relations.

CLI is an official affiliate of Guangxi Normal University.

The Chinese Language Institute is a branch of one of southern China's most gorgeous institutions of higher learning, Guangxi Normal University (GXNU). Founded in 1932, GXNU maintains an annual student population of nearly 25,000 and offers a wide range of academic disciplines. CLI takes an already high-caliber international program, that which is offered by GXNU, and improves upon it in many ways.

CLI is your key to Chinese fluency.

CLI does away with the old-fashioned classroom environment in favor of the proven superior method – fluency through interaction, experience and immersion. The core of your learning experience will be up to 20 weekly hours of one-on-one intensive language instruction . Rather than constantly vying for your teacher's attention, you will enjoy the priceless benefit of direct one-on-one communication in the Chinese language. 

CLI's Immersion Program
At the core of CLI’s offerings is the Immersion Program. With short and long-term opportunities, CLI’s Immersion Program delivers the invaluable experience of complete immersion into a highly conducive and well-organized learning environment. Attend 20 weekly hours of intensive one-on-one Mandarin lessons and learn Chinese with the most efficient program there is.

College Study Abroad
CLI's study abroad option is for all students currently studying in college and also for non-degree seeking students who wish to enroll as a full-time student at Guangxi Normal University (GXNU). In addition to GXNU coursework, you will also attend between 3 and 10 weekly hours of one-on-one Mandarin language training (please see Standard vs. Intensive).

China Study Tours
Each summer and winter, CLI partners with various international high schools, colleges and universities to host unforgettable travel excursions throughout the PRC. CLI’s team of China experts leads visiting professors and students from countryside villages to modern metropolises while exploring a wide range of academic topics, including Chinese philosophy, economics, history, communication, political science, environmental sustainability and more.

Teach English in China
CLI offers the professional opportunity of a lifetime through our Teach in China program, which guarantees a secure and reliable English teaching job in Guilin at your preferred academic level. Participants are provided with a monthly salary of at least 3,500 CNY, private housing accommodations, and a host of other benefits. In addition to gaining invaluable international work experience, you will be provided with endless opportunities to gain deep, personal insight into one-fifth of the world's population.
